History in Brief
The Lahore Fort has been rebuilt and expanded by Mughal emperors — notably Akbar, Jahangir, Shah Jahan, and Aurangzeb — over centuries. It stands within the Walled City opposite the Badshahi Mosque, forming one of South Asia's great architectural ensembles. UNESCO inscribed the fort as a World Heritage Site in 1981.
Getting There
From Lahore city centre, ride-hailing and Metro Bus connections reach the Old City. Walk from the Badshahi Mosque side or enter via Alamgiri Gate. Parking is limited — taxis or drop-off recommended on busy weekends.
